Diploma in Medical Ultrasonography (DMU)

(One Year Full-time & Distance Learning Program)

This program is intended for all medical doctors and allied health professionals who wish to perform abdominal, small parts, Thyroid, Breasts and OBGYN sonography independently for diagnostic purposes in advance standing or tertiary level.

Diploma in Medical Ultrasound

Key features:
•    It is a Post Graduate Diploma course in Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound.
•    It is a One-year regular full time course.
•    It is also available as One-year distance learning program with 2 months at site hands-on training. 
•    It is a comprehensive course covering almost all ultrasound modalities with North American curriculum and scanning protocol for ARDMS registry exam.
•    This program is intended for all medical doctors and allied health professionals who wish to perform General abdominal, small parts, Thyroid, Breasts and OBGYN Ultrasonography independently for diagnostic purposes in advance standing or tertiary level.
•    One to One Hands-on training with state of the art training facility, modern ultrasound equipment, supplemented by videos, lectures & American-Canadian licensed instructor.
•    The distant learning program is intended only for those who are unable to attend in a regular program due to their pre-occupation and/or for foreign students who cannot afford one year leave from their employers.  However, they must ready for 2-month full time at site hands-on training at the end.
Objective:
·   The objective of this one-year duration PG-Diploma course is to produce advanced standing sonologist and sonographers through a very intensive and more detail course module comprising both didactic and hands on practical training that will be able to serve the community in a secondary or tertiary level hospitals or clinics.

·   To obtain RDMS credentials from USA. Our graduates after completion of their diploma courses, becomes eligible to sit for American licensing examination popularly known as ARDMS, who provides RDMS, RDCS, RVT, RMSK certificates, a globally recognized credentials in the field of ultrasound. Passing rate of our graduates in ARDMS examination is almost 100%, because our curriculum and hands on training follows the curriculum and scanning protocol of ARDMS and CARDUP (Sonography Canada). 

Course Content:

It is a comprehensive course covering all aspect of the AIUM, ARDMS & CARDUP Guideline for scanning technique and protocol along with didactic course curriculum. The subjects taught within the one year DMU program are:
o     Sonographic principles & instrumentation (SPI),
o     Abdominal ultrasound
o     OBGYN ultrasound with Neurosonology
o     Small parts and superficial structures ultrasound.
o     Clinical practicum (hands-on) Part -I
o     Clinical practicum (hands-on) Part - II

Course Content – Sonographic Principles & Instrumentation:

o     Introduction and Basic terminology
o     Wave parameters –sound wave & ultrasound wave parameters
o     Interaction of ultrasound & tissues
o     TGC & echo-ranging
o     Ultrasound Transducer theories & types
o     Pulse-echo imaging & instrumentation
o     Display mode, image storage & recording
o     Hemodynamics
o     Doppler principles & Instrumentation
o     Image artifacts in grey scale ultrasound &
o     Image artifacts in Doppler ultrasound
o     Bioeffects and patient’s safety
o     Quality assurance & quality control
o     New technologies & Protocol

Course Content – Abdominal Ultrasound:

o        Introduction, Terminology & Image orientation
o        Introduction, Basic Nomenclature, Terminology & Image orientation
o        Abdominal vasculature – arterial system
o        Abdominal vasculature – Systemic & Portal venous system
o        Normal liver, anatomy and physiology
o        Liver pathology
o        Gall bladder and Biliary tree
o        Pancreas
o        Spleen & Reticuloendothelial system
o        Retroperitoneum
o        Adrenal glands
o        Normal Kidney & Lower urinary tract
o        Kidney & Lower urinary tract pathology
o        Transplant Kidney
o        Gastrointestinal tract
o        Peritoneal cavities, fluid collections, ascites

Course Content – Small parts and superficial structure ultrasound:

o        Neck, Thyroid & Parathyroid gland
o        Breast
o        Prostate & Seminal Vesicles
o        Scrotum & Testes
o        Abdominal walls and Non-Cardiac chest.
o        Basic MSK – muscles, joints and ligaments.

Course content - Gynecology ultrasound:

o     Introduction, basic terminology and Image Orientation
o     Anatomy of female pelvis
o     Physiology of female pelvis
o     Uterine & Vaginal pathology
o     Ovarian and adnexal pathology
o        PID & IUCD
o     Infertility & ART
o     Patient care, safety and quality assurance

Course content - OB-ultrasound:

o     Normal first trimester
o     Early pregnancy failure
o     Ectopic pregnancy
o     GTD/GTN
o     First Trimester anomaly screening at 11w-13W6days.
o     Normal 2nd & 3rd Trimester
o     Extra Fetal assessment of Placenta, AF, Cervix, Uterus, Ovaries & adnexa
o     Fetal age, Growth assessment & IUGR
o     Multiple gestations
o     Fetal anomaly of CNS, face & neck
o     Fetal heart – Normal heart & cardiac anomaly
o     Abdominal wall defects
o     Gastrointestinal tract anomaly
o     Genito-Urinary anomaly
o     Skeletal anomaly
o     Chromosomal anomaly (aneuploidy)
o     Non-chromosomal anomaly (Structural & developmental anomaly)
o     Fetal hydrops, Diabetes, Hemolytic disease of new born
o     Fetal surveillance by Doppler & Biophysical profile

Diploma in Obstetrics & Gynecology Ultrasound

(Six month DMU in OBGYN ultrasound)

This program is intended for OBGYN specialists, OBGYN residents & MRCOG candidates and General Sonologists who wish to perform OBGYN Sonography independently for diagnostic purposes in advance standing or tertiary level.

Diploma in Obstetrics & Gynecology Ultrasound

Key features:

  • It is a post graduate diploma program in OBGYN Ultrasound.
  • It is a six-month comprehensive course on both Transabdominal and Transvaginal OBGYN Sonography.
  • This program will give you the practical and theoretical knowledge to perform and understand both transabdominal and transvaginal pelvic examination, at your 'Point of Care' with AIUM Standard Protocol, including fetal structural and genetic anomaly screening.
  • One to One Hands-on training with state of the art training facility, modern ultrasound equipment, supplemented by videos, lectures & American-Canadian licensed instructor.

Target group:

  • This program is intended for Gynecologist & ObstetriciansOBGYN residents & MRCOG candidates and allied health professionals who wish to perform OBGYN Ultrasonography independently for diagnostic purposes in advance standing or tertiary level.
  • For sonologist or sonographers who are looking to enhance their ability to identify female pelvic pathology and pregnancy screening at more advance or tertiary level including first trimester and 2nd trimester fetal anomaly scan, Infertility screening,  Fetal surveillance and IUGR assessment using Duplex Doppler imaging in both transabdominal and transvaginal approach.
  • For those who wants to enhance or improve their technique in both transabdominal and transvaginal scanning.

ARDMS licensing Examination Preparation Course

(Registry exam for RDMS, RVT, RDCS & RMSK credentials)

It is intended for all medical doctors & allied health professionals who wish to take APCA-ARDMS licensing exam and/or to obtain the credentials or Certificates in any of the specialty ultrasound from USA.

ARDMS licensing Examination Preparation Course

Key features:

  • It is an American-licensing examination conducted by APCA/ARDMS.
  • The ARDMS  preparation course covers almost all ultrasound modalities such as- 

 

o   SPI - Sonographic Principles & Instrumentation – core subject.

o   Abdomen – leading to RDMS (AB),

o   OBGYN – leading to RDMS (OBGYN),

o   Breast – leading to RDMS (BR)

o   Neurosonology – leading to RDMS (N)

o   Vascular Technology - leading to RVT (VT)

o   Adult Echocardiography – leading to RDCS (AE)

o   Musculoskeletal ultrasound – leading to RMSKS (MSK).

 

  • This program is intended for all medical doctors and allied health professionals who wish to take any of the above APCA/ARDMS licensing examination and/or to obtain the credentials/Certificates in any of the specialty ultrasound from Unites States of America.

 

  • For beginners in ultrasound or no experience in ultrasound at all, we suggest to take the first three basic subjects covering the general ultrasound certificates requires in daily practice and also to obtain for the basic credentials in ultrasound. These are SPI, Abdomen and OBGYN ultrasound, essential for practicing general ultrasound.

 

  • For further subspecialty courses any of the three different combination or all the three can be taken:

 

  1. RVT (VT) – SPI and Vascular Doppler Sonography.
  2. RDCS (AE) – SPI and Adult Echocardiography.
  3. RMSKS, RMSK – SPI and MSK ultrasound. 

 

  • One to One Hands-on training with state of the art training facility, modern ultrasound equipment, supplemented by videos, lectures & American-Canadian licensed instructor.

 

  • After successful completion, necessary reference letter and Clinical verification form (CV-Form) will be provided to complete registration process for ARDMS examination, from our institute signed by APCA/ARDMS licensed instructor.

 

  • Physicians will register with The Alliance for Physician Certification & Advancement (APCA), or Allied health professional will register with The American Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) for the examination.
  • APCA/RDMS credentials are globally recognized ultrasound certificate.
  • APCA/ARDMS centers are available in different countries worldwide.
  • Our center helps prospected candidates in preparing and enrolling for the examination online.

Advance Diploma in Medical Sonography (ADMS)

(3 week course offering Advance Diploma)

This program is intended for all practicing Sonologists who wants to enhance or improve their technique in all ultrasound modalities including Vascular Doppler Sonography & MSK ultrasound

Advance Diploma in Medical Sonography (ADMS)

Key features:

  • Advance diploma in Medical Ultrasonography is a more advance course in a short period of time.
  • It is a three weeks full time very intensive hands-on training program with few didactic lectures.
  • It covers extensive hands-on in all ultrasound specialties including abdomen, Small parts, thyroid, Neck, Breasts, OBGYN ultrasound with TVS/TAS approach, Sonohysterography, Neurosonology, Vascular Doppler sonography of OBGYN, Carotid & peripheral vessels, abdominal vessels and Musculoskeletal ultrasound covering all the major joints, muscles, ligaments.
  • The course is conducted by a visiting highly experienced Canadian-American Physician Sonographer Dr. Hugh Anthony Ellis and certificate will be given from a Canadian Institute of Ultrasound Technique.
  •  One to One Hands-on training with state of the art training facility, modern ultrasound equipment, supplemented by videos, lectures & Canadian-American licensed instructor.

Target group:

  • This program is intended for all practicing physician Sonologists who wants to enhance or improve their technique in all ultrasound modalities including Vascular Doppler sonography and MSK ultrasound.
  • It is also intended for those who want to learn Vascular Doppler sonography and MSK ultrasound for the first time under the supervision of a North American Clinical instructor in ultrasound with 30 years experience in teaching sonography.
  • Hands-on Training will also be provided in both transabdominal and transvaginal scanning and Sonohysterography.

Diploma in Pediatric Ultrasound

(Six month DMU in Pediatric Ultrasound)

It includes pediatric abdomen & pelvic ultrasound with Neurosonology of neonatal brain and spine. This course is intended for those who is interested for doing specialized pediatric sonography only.

Ultrasound for Midwives

(Six month DMU in Obstetric Ultrasound)

This program is associated with ISUOG. It is intended for graduate midwives & nurses who are doing antenatal care of pregnant mothers in rural areas to help identifying high risk pregnancies with ultrasound & will refer for hospital delivery.
